My February / March 2026 Media Diet

The past two months have been packed. I’ve made huge strides toward releasing my new book app, Leaf, started planning and revamping my NAS setup in my homelab, and managed to squeeze in a trip to San Francisco and Yosemite National Park. I skipped writing this blog last month. Mostly because I forgot. So this one’s a double feature.
I’m hoping to get a beta of Leaf out by the end of this month, with a full release lined up before WWDC. I refuse to let shiny new APIs derail me this time.
Here’s the massive list:
📺 Death by Lightning. Interesting enough Netflix drama. I’m a sucker for anything Nick Offerman touches and he delivers here.
📺 Wonder Man. This is the one show on this list I know you won’t watch. That’s a mistake. It’s so good and barely even a superhero show. More of this, please, Marvel. 👍
⛷️ 2026 Winter Olympics. I watched way too much curling and now I’m convinced I’ve got a shot at qualifying in 2028. The Olympics never miss.
📺 Frieren: Beyond Journey’s End. Hands down my favorite anime of the past five years is back. The second season feels short, which is a bummer, but whenever this show exists, I’m watching. 👍
🍿 Anaconda. Exactly as bad as you think, but just fun enough to stay watchable. Paul Rudd and Jack Black carry it.
🍿 Primate. A solid B-horror movie that most people will never see. The idea of a best friend turning on you, primate or otherwise, is a strong hook that deserves more exploration.
🍿 The Housemaid. I was with this the whole way until the final scene. It completely lost me there. Still, the ride wasn’t terrible.
🍿 Night Patrol. A strange one that I don’t really recommend. That said, Justin Long continues to quietly build a great horror résumé, and I’ll keep showing up for it.
🕹️ Yakuza 0. Jumped back into the series and was surprised to find a full-on beat ’em up instead of the JRPG I expected. I put it down after a couple months but definitely want to return. The story keeps you guessing and the gameplay is a blast.
📺 Steal. Hit me at exactly the right time. Entertaining all the way through, even if it leans a bit predictable.
📺 A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms. I still don’t know if I’m a full Game of Thrones person, but this is exactly the kind of fantasy I want. Less dragons, more jousting. 👍
📺 Formula 1: Drive to Survive. The race boys are back. Last season’s championship drama makes for great docu-drama. If you’re even a little F1 curious, start here.
🍿 Interstellar. Rewatched with friends. The ending is still a little too handwavy for me, but the impact is undeniable. This movie goes hard. 👍
📺 Peaky Blinders. I’ve been putting this off for years. That was a mistake. Cillian Murphy is locked in. Some characters don’t get much depth, but each episode moves fast and is just fun to watch. 👍
🏎️ 2026 Formula One World Championship. Really excited for this one. The new regulations have leveled the playing field more than we’ve seen in years. I do feel a little bad for Lando though. Is this George’s year?
🕹️ Blasphemous. Only played a few hours. The art is incredible and the gameplay feels good, but it’s just a bit too punishing for me right now. Maybe I’ll come back later.
🍿 The Moment. Went in blind. I don’t really listen to Charli XCX, but something about this worked for me. It felt like an episode of I Love LA in the best way.
🍿 Blue Ruin. From the director of Green Room. Not quite as gripping, but I like the premise. Personal revenge that spirals out of control is always compelling.
🍿 Lurker. Not the best movie I’ve seen this year, but it absolutely nails the awkward tension for its entire runtime.
🍿 Black Phone 2. Are they turning this into the new Nightmare on Elm Street? Nightmare figures bleeding into reality is a fun lane, and I’d watch another one.
🍿 Juice. Tupac gets a taste of power and completely turns on his friends. Great premise. The acting is a little rough in that 90s way, but it still works.
📺 Scrubs. It’s back and feels exactly the same. I loved the original, and I’m more than happy to spend time with this kind of feel-good humor again.
🕹️ Portal 2. Somehow I convinced myself I’d already played this. I hadn’t. Incredible puzzle game. Absolute must-play. Valve, please come back to this. 👍
🍿 If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. If a panic attack were a movie, this would be it. I won’t watch it again, but I’m glad I did once. Everyone brings it. Also +1 for Conan O’Brien.
📺 Jury Duty: Season 2. We loved the first season and this is shaping up to be just as good. The company retreat setup opens the door for way more chaos. The new guy is just as sweet and immediately on board. 👍
🕹️ Minishoot Adventures. I devoured this. Metroidvania, Zelda-like, and bullet hell all mashed together. It works. Highly recommend. 👍
🕹️ Demonschool. The combat here rules. Planning out entire turns and then watching them play out is super satisfying. It’s funny too. Excited to finish this. 👍
📺 JoJo’s Bizarre Adventure: Steel Ball Run. I will always watch JoJo. It’s completely unhinged and somehow always works. Keep it coming. 👍
📺 Love Overboard. When people leave Love Island, everyone acts like they died. This show takes that idea literally and drops them into the ocean. The games actually matter too. I think I love it? 👍
